Until August 2024, Dr. Heinrich Kreft held the Chair for Diplomacy II and was the Program Director of International Relations and European Studies at the AUB plus the Head of our Center for Diplomacy. Previously, he was Germany´s Ambassador to Luxembourg, Ambassador for International Academic Relations and Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, as well as Deputy Head of its Policy Planning Staff. Prior assignments in his 40-year diplomatic career had taken him to Washington, DC, Tokyo, Madrid, and La Paz. Dr. Kreft was a visiting fellow at a number of renowned think tanks in the US. He studied political science, modern history, and sociology in the US, in Paris, and Münster. Dr. Kreft has published extensively on international relations. His recent publications so far this year include his edited and co-authored works on “Religion und Diplomatie,”, “Race to Space: How Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Richard Branson Are Conquering Space and the Role of NASA, ESA, China, and Russia,” and “Europe and the Emerging New World Order: Rethinking Europe's Security Framework.” The event will also serve as a book launch for the latter work.
