Gotha gilt als eine der schönsten und ältesten Städte Thüringens. Die ehemalige Residenzstadt am Rande des Thüringer Waldes ist reich an Kunst und Kultur, historischen Bauwerken und Denkmälern, Parks und Museen und voller Leben.

Während unseres internationalen Workcamps haben wir genügend Zeit, die Stadt zu erkunden, uns gegenseitig kennen zu lernen und mit jungen Menschen aus anderen Ländern Freundschaften zu schließen. Hier setzen wir uns mit Geschichte und Gegenwart auseinander: Wir besuchen die KZ-Gedenkstätte Buchenwald und pflegen die Kriegsgräber auf dem Hauptfriedhof von Gotha, einer seit 1878 gewachsenen, parkartigen Anlage, auf der auch wertvolle Grabmale aus der Jugendstilzeit zu bewundern sind. Gotha ist ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge in die Landeshauptstadt Erfurt, nach Weimar oder (im Lutherjahr 2017 geradezu Pflicht) nach Eisenach und auf die Wartburg. Außerdem erwarten euch ein Tag im nahegelegenen Kletterwald, Schwimmbadvergnügen, Spiele und vieles mehr, auf das ihr gespannt sein könnt. Camp-Sprache ist Englisch. Gotha is regarded as one of the oldest and most beautiful towns in Thuringia. The former ducal seat on the fringes of the Thuringian Forest is rich in art and culture, historical buildings and monuments, parks and museums and it teems with life. There will be time during our International Youth Camp to explore the town, to get to know each other and to make friends with young people from other nations. We will discuss historical and contemporary themes: the concentration camp in Buchenwald is one of our destinations and we will take time to care for the war graves on Gotha's central cemetery. The cemetery lies in a beautiful park landscape; it was begun in 1878 and contains valuable art nouveau tombstones. Gotha is the ideal starting point for excursions to the local capital Erfurt, to Weimar and also to Eisenach and the Wartburg, a must in 2017, the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Reformation initiated by Martin Luther. We will spend a day in the nearby climbing garden, visit the swimming pool and enjoy many other activities together. The camp language is English.
